PLEASE CHECK THIS PAGE REGULARLY. Here, I will let you know if I add to or change anything on the blog. You can also find updates on our class activities and any homework or class-preparation assignments.

December 4, 2019: I have set an additional block of student meeting hours on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 5, 1:00-3:00. REMEMBER that I must meet with each student to make a plan for your assessment model.
DECEMBER 3, 2019: Classes will be extended until DECEMBER 13 and the exam period is cancelled. Our last class will be DECEMBER 11
CLASS TIME: . As we discussed in class, we will use the remaining time to complete our DISCUSSION QUESTION in-class work. Please bring your draft discussion questions to the class prior to your scheduled time. I will post the new schedule on my office door for your reference.
STUDENT MEETINGS: EACH STUDENT MUST MEET WITH ME to make adjustments to your assignment contract:
Regular OFFICE VISIT hours today for those signed up for that assignment. Next week’s DEC 10 Office Visit hours are cancelled .
ADDITIONAL HOURS: TUESDAY (TODAY) 9:00-11:00 and WEDNESDAY (TOMORROW) 9:00-11:00.
If you cannot make any of these hours, send me an email with a range of times you are available on THURS or FRI. Once I have a sense of when people are available, I will set additional hours.
DECEMBER 1, 2019: We will be returning to class on Monday, December 2. The Faculty will be undertaking teaching duties only as we are still involved in job action. The remainder of the semester, the schedule and the status of exams will be determined by Senate at a meeting on Monday afternoon. Therefore, I will not have those answers for you at the time of our class meeting. So, in light of these circumstances, I can tell you the following:
- DUE DATES are suspended until we know what the schedule will look like. We will reset these due dates and determine a plan for outstanding assignments once we have the necessary information;
- CLASSWORK: My hope is that Senate will allot some additional class meeting times in December, in which case we will have time to address The Atheist’s Tragedy. Our main concern in this regard is the outstanding Discussion Question assignments. We will discuss some strategies in class on Monday. If possible, please come to class prepared to discuss the text. If you were next up for Discussion Questions for The Atheist’s Tragedy, please bring your question on Monday on the assumption that we will have our regular DQ class on Wednesday;
- INDIVIDUAL INQUIRIES: I have already received many individual inquiries about assignments etc. by email. I cannot respond to these until we know the decisions of Senate. Therefore, please be patient. Anything that is not resolved generally will be addressed as soon as I can do so;
- OUTSTANDING ASSIGNMENTS: As each of you is on a unique schedule of assignments and assignment values, there will not be a “one size fits all” option for dealing with a curtailed semester. Right now, my plan is to meet with each of you to determine the best way forward, but this will have to wait until we hear from Senate. Please be patient;
- STUDENT MEETING HOURS: I will be holding general student hours TUESDAY, DECEMBER 3, 9:00-11:00 in addition to my regular Wednesday hours (9:00-11:00). We will keep our regular Tuesday meetings for those signed up for the Office Visit assignment.
Please see this FAQ from the Faculty Association for more information:
Additional: I have added a PPT: Early Modern Atheism to the Links/Docs page.
NOV 6, 2019: for people signed up for Discussion Questions for next week: As Monday is a holiday, please email me your discussion questions and I will post them to the blog. For everyone else: please check the blog. I will put the discussion questions on the ASSIGNMENTS page under the DISCUSSION QUESTION Assignment Description link. As for the impending job action, we will plan to be back for next Wednesday, so keep to your original DUE DATES for remaining assignments. If the job action lasts longer, we will regroup on our return and come up with a plan.
OCT 8, 2019: I have added links for the audio versions of The SpanishTragedy and The Revengers Tragedy to the Links/Docs page. Thank you to Courtney for providing these resources for the class.

SEPT 19, 2019: I have added the PPT Reading, Asking Questions, Group Work to the PPT section of the Links/Docs page. I am working on updating all of the assignment descriptions.
SEPT 17, 2019: I have added an UPDATED Readings and Assignments Schedule to that page of the blog. This schedule includes all DUE DATES. As the blog is being tetchy and won’t let me upload the file, I will bring hardcopies to class and will add the file when the blog is fixed. In the meantime, you can look at the schedule on that page.
I have also added our UPDATED Assessment Model and Curation Contract to the “Assignments” page. I will bring hard copies to class on Wednesday. Please note that I’ve included a sample contract there so you can see how to fill it out. Have a look at it and bring any questions to class tomorrow.
